Birthday Bash #1

Standard

Last week as ya’ll saw, it was my birthday and I was not very excited about this one. You have to understand though that my family is not big birthday people. I never really had birthday parties growing up. I can remember having one whenever I was 5 and the last one I remember at 13 (this one I had to beg for!). So, this year I was not expecting anything other than hanging out with my family, husband and it just being another year.

It started out this way, but then it changed a little. My husband went out and bought me a very yummy cake and set up a dinner with my parents, brother and his family and just hang out and that was supposed to be my birthday dinner.

This cake was so yummy! It was raspberry Chocolate and was very tall. I had to bring the rest of it to school so that I did not have to have it at home.

We went to Saltgrass and ate dinner. I had steak and potatoes! I do not get steak that much, so I knew before I went in there, that I wanted to eat that. Hey, it’s my birthday, so I can splurge, right????

We had a great time while we were there with family. The best party of the night was when the manager came out and started talking to me as though I was my nieces mother. Now, keep in mind that my nieces get accused of being my kids all the time because we do look quite a bit alike.

If you look closely, these three beautiful girls look a whole lot like Brian and I and it is all because of the lovely people standing in the back….my parents.

Brian and I ended the night by going to my brothers house and hanging out with him since he could not make it that night! I just love having them living so close to me now. Before we would live states apart at times!

This birthday SO FAR has been amazing and I could not ask for better family and friends. But JUST WAIT, until you see just how amazing my family and friends are! I am waiting for pictures and then I will really be able to show you!

Question: Did you have a lot of birthday parties growing up or were they not a big deal to you?

DPS Family 5K

Standard

Thank you for all the advice on the Brazilian Butt Lift post! I loved reading what ya’ll had to tell me. It is going great, but it is tough that is for sure. I can already feel a difference, well at least I am more sore than I was.

This weekend I am running my first 5K of the season. It is called the DPS Family 5K. My husband is a DPS officer, so when they decided to have a 5K to help raise money for some different things I was very excited to run it with him. HOWEVER, because of the lovely schedules that come out (not that they are bad, I love his job) he is not able to run it with me now.

So I will be running this race SOLO!

I have not ran a 5K race since last year in October I believe and it was HOT!!!!!

This was a great race, however I was training in my Vibrams and my calfs were as tight as rocks, which is not to fun to run on.

I am not sure if I can say that I am trained for this race completely. I am not trying to PR, because I am not in 5K training. I am in training for my full in December. This race is just going to be a nice easy run for me. I will be running alongside a bunch of DPS officers, wives and kids. I just want to have fun with it. I wish my husband could run with me, but that is okay that he can not.

Wish me luck as I attempt my first 5K of the season. It is probably going to be a hot one!

Question: What 5K races do you have coming up or what have you already ran?

Brazilian Butt Lift

Standard

How many of you out there wish you could make that flab and non-toned area in the back in more toned and lifted???????

MEEEEEEEE!!!!!

My mothers side of the family decided to bless me with a very large backside, or well, let’s just say it…BUTT!!!! Since I started running in 2009 I have lost quite a bit of weight back there, but no matter what I tried I could never get it more toned.

I have tried such things as Insanity, P90X, running, working out, swimming and many other videos. Nothing has seemed to help my backside to lift up some, but none of this has worked.

Well, I have found something a little bit different now….

This was my birthday gift to myself. This program is called “Brazil Butt Lift” and it is from the Beach Body Program. I have done “Insanity” through BeachBody and loved it. I also saw results from this program.

I am very excited to see the results from this program. Whereas I will not be posting pictures of my backside to see before and after results, I will post some side views of before and after.

Within this program, it comes with a meal plan, “Pencil Test”, tape measure and exercise band. The program is only 4 weeks long, which is much nicer than the Insanity  or the P90X programs.

I am excited to try this program out and see the results from this.

Question: Have you completed this program or something similar to it already?

It’s my Birthday

Standard

Yesterday was my birthday and it was a big one for me! No, I am not 30 yet, but I consider it the hump to 30, so I feel like I am close. I will have a full post tomorrow, but for now I just wanted to say that I had an amazing birthday with cake, presents, family and friends and loved everyone that made it that way for me!

Thank you all!!!!!!

The Last Days of Christ Reenactment

Standard

This past weekend I was part of a reenactment called “The Last Days of Christ.” This play lasted from last Thursday-Saturday. This was my first year that I knew about it, knew somebody that was in and was asked to help out.

Coincidentally, one of my students in my class parents were the people who were over the entire event. It was really neat to be able to share this with one of my students and their parents.

There was around 12-13 scenes all depicting the “Last Days of Christ.” I had to memorize around 4 pages of a speech to say. If you know me, then you know that I am not a great person at memorizing, but that i can do it when I have to or when it is something that I am very passionate about, such as my faith.

Needless to say I was able to memorize the script and I went on Thursday night so that I could watch it and then I had to perform it on Friday and Saturday.

There was one part of the script that I was not very comfortable with, because I did not grow up doing this. I grew up Southern Baptist and we step out of our comfort zone whenever we “clap, raise our hands, put our hands on people to pray or bless people.” Not to say that any of that is wrong, but it is just different if you are not raised doing it.

At the end of my script, I had to use the olive oil to bless anybody that wanted me to by making a sign of the cross on their forehead. Now, this is quite weird to me, but I see the spiritual purpose behind it and everyone is worships in their own way, but it was just different to me.

If I had to guess, I would say that I had over 30 groups that I talked to within the two nights and almost all of these were back to back. After about the 4th time of saying my script I had it down really well!

Sorry, most of these images are dark, because I finally got to walk through at night, but if you can imagine what was happening here, it is very powerful! I am amazed out how much Christ prayed and suffered for us!

“The Passover” or “The Last Supper”.

My friends and I all worked the same booth, but we had different shifts. I work with these two wonderful ladies at school and I could not ask for better coworkers or friends!

Overall, the event was a success. There was a lot of healing, praying and hearts turned toward Christ over the 3 days that this was going on. I was physically, mentally and spiritually tired after the entire event, but I was also blessed beyond imagine.

Not to leave anyone hanging on my running journey….but…

I ran yesterday for 2 miles, and then I swam for about 30 minutes. I did different laps of breast stroke, butterfly, backstroke, elementary backstroke, treading water and front crawl.

I have some exciting news (well to me at least) coming up this week…here is your hint: It deals with swimming.

Question: Have you ever helped out at an event such as this one?

My First Gluten Free Recipe

Standard

I am going to try and start sharing a healthy/yummy recipe with you every Sunday. This Sunday is special to my family and I as we do not only celebrate about bunnies and hunting easter eggs, but we instead celebrate that Christ has risen because he paid the ultimate sacrifice on the cross for you and I.

I have been finding all kinds of yummy recipes on Pinterest and through friends that I just had to share them with you all.

Today, the recipe I am going to share with you is called,

“Brownie ‘n Berries Dessert Pizza (Gluten Free)

This recipe is delicious and healthy too.

Ingredients:

*1 Box of Betty Crocker Gluten Free Brownie Mix

* Butter and eggs called for on brownie mix box

*1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened

*1/3 cup sugar

*1/2 teaspoon Vanilla

*2 cups sliced fresh strawberries

*1 cup fresh blueberries

*1 cup fresh raspberries

*1/2 cup apple jelly

First, you heat the oven to 350 F. or 325 F. for a dark or nonstick pan). I used Pam to spray the bottom of the pan, but you can also use flour or shortening.

In a Large bowl, stir the brownie mix, butter and eggs until well blended, and then spread that on the pan.

Next, bake the brownie 18-20 minutes or until you can stick a toothpick through it and it comes out clean. Cool completely for about an hour. In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla with a electric mixer. (I just used a hand mixer) Spread this over the top of the brownie after it has cooled.

Next, take your strawberries and cute them up into smaller pieces. Then, arrange your berries over the cream cheese. Stir the Apple Jelly until it is smooth; and brush this over the top of your berries. (I used a basking brush and it worked perfect).

Refrigerate for about an hour or until cold and cut into wedges (like a pizza) and viola, it will turn out like this….

And this is what happens when you bring it to school and feed a bunch of hungry teachers….

Question: What is your favorite healthy recipe? I love hearing about other healthy recipes, so if you have any, please share!

Last week was a slow week for working out as I performed in a play called “The Last Days of Christ” and we only had a 4 day school week. I ran twice, 3 miles and 4 miles and I am hoping to pick that back up this week.

Just a sneak peek of what is to come….The play that I helped in and also…What DO YOU think happens when you give a bunch of kids at school and 5 little girls a package of confetti eggs? Well, you will just have to wait and see…
