I followed your blog via email.
If you have not been watching, you are missing out! I have been glued to the television the past 2 days watching all kinds of olympic competitions so far.
What did you all think of the opening ceremonies??? It was a little bit weird to me and it also reminded me of the hunger games. “Arena, kids/men and women, all competing for a win of some kind.
Currently I am watching the Olympic 400 meter and Lochte is in the lead right now. Although I already know who wins via twitter. :0)
I also watched sand volleyball which had two of my favorite athletes, Kerri Walsh and Misty May. I love volleyball and sand volleyball. It takes so much more strength and power to get up and out of that sand!
Jordyn Wieber is my all time favorite athlete this year! I can not wait to see her compete!
Do not forget about my giveaway going on right now to win a free tube NUUN!! Check out my blog HERE!!
Question: What is your favorite olympic sport and athlete this year?
About a month ago I received the opportunity to review a couple of products from Nuun Hydration. They sent me two containers of Nuun electrolyte enhanced drink tablets. I was able to choose the flavors that I wanted so I decided on something safe and that I had not tried yet; Fruit Punch and Strawberry Lemonade.
A little background on Nuun Hydration if you have not tried or heard about them:
Taken from Nuun Website: “Nuun has essential electrolytes, no sugars and a light, refreshing taste! Used by the best athletes in the world, the best spectators in world and those of us somewhere in between. Hydration is more than just water. Make your water count!”
No matter if you are running, lifting weights, swimming or riding a bike, hydration is key to keep your body energized and going. At least 75% of our body is made up of water. “Water helps your body regulate temperature, transport nutrients to organs and tissues, transport oxygen to cells, remove waste, and protect your joins and organs.”
Proper hydration is good for paying attention to detail and for concentration. Whether that means you are running a marathon or just sitting outside in the heat. The Nuun tablet is about the size of a quarter and all you have to do is our a glass of water and then drop the tablet into the water. Then you watch as it sizzles up and eventually disintegrates. It takes about 45 sec. to a minute for this to happen.
It does not taste gritty once it dissolves and it is not very strong if you pour a glass of water about the size of the one below. If you want a stronger taste, then you can get a smaller glass.
I have used Nuun for quite a while now and it is so easy to drink. You can mix it into smoothies as well as drink it alone. I have been teaching swimming lessons all summer and I have taken quite a few of the tablets after some of my lessons. I have also been stripping some chairs of the color that is on them in the blistering heat.
If you have ever been to Southeast Texas, then you know how hot it is. This summer it got as hot as 102 degrees outside and I was out in it working. AFter working on the chairs or teaching swimming lessons I would get a glass of Nuun with ice in it and just sit outside to enjoy it and replace those electrolytes. I also used it many times after I worked out and lifted weights.
I bet you are wondering how can I try some of this. Well guess what…I have a way! I have one bottle of Nuun tablets that I am going to be giving away. The flavor that I have is Fruit Punch and it is so yummy as well!
Here is what you have to do to win it:

Disclaimer: I was given these products free of charge in return for my personal opinion on here.
I have not mentioned much on here about why I have not been posting a lot. I promise I would be on here more, but my husband and I have been a little detained at the time. We are working on something that is very very important to us in our lives.
Did my title give it away???? Awwwww, shucks! Well, if not, then here it is! We are building our very first house!
We have been married 3 years and we have saved for a long time to be able to do this. I have cleaned houses and babysat all while teaching 2nd grade to get some extra money coming in. My husband has worked overtime quite a few times to be able to bring some extra money in and all that money has gone straight to our house!
We went to the building company that we have been looking at for over a year now in May and finally decided to talk to them. We can not stand our apartment complex anymore! The company was so nice and walked us through every step of the process. The first day of decisions we had to make over 37 color, pattern, brick, etc. choices. I am so excited to share our building process with all of you! Here were some of our first decisions that we made!
This is our granite (countertops), tile, carpet and cabinets. We are going to have tile floor throughout the whole house except for in the bedrooms. Our tile is also going to double as our backsplash in our kitchen.
This is our brick color. We had to walk down through the neighborhood to find a color on a house that we liked. I could not just look at a small sample and imagine it on our future house! We picked 3 brick colors before that and because we are going to be in a cul-de-sac we could not use any of those colors.
I knew I did not want a red, yellow or white brick! This made my decision so much harder!
The first door on this page is the one that we chose for our inside doors. This was also difficult to pick out without seeing what the door looked like in person. Can you tell I am a very visual person? :0)
And then we picked out our shingles! I did not know there was so many different colors of shingles! We decided on a very neutral tone when it came to our roof. We made those decisions above as well as so many others, such as windowsill color, putty color, and other crazy things that I would never think about unless I was told to pick it out.
Our next decisions consisted of lighting and front/back doors.
We are hoping to be moving in October! That is going to be a crazy time for me because I will just be getting into a groove again with teaching and everyday life things. Once we get settled in though, I am going to join the cross fit community in the area! I am so ready to start doing that again!
Coming up this week, I have two reviews of some awesome products. And it is my last week of swimming lessons!!! YAY!!!!
Question: Have you ever built a house or do you want to one day?
Over the past year I have been trying to switch from 2% milk to organic or almond milk. This switch is not very easy for me considering that I have been drinking 2% my entire life. My husband loves skim milk, but I could not drink that because it tasted like watered down milk to me.
That is whenever I discovered Horizon Organic Milk. The first time I tried this I did not like it at all. My sister-in-law Karen let me try it after a race. I was not used to drinking milk after any run so this was not appetizing at all. Then I started looking into the benefits of drinking chocolate milk after a run and noticed that there was tons of things I did not know such as:
1. helps with muscle recovery
2. Loaded with calcium, Potassium and Magnesium which are used up during workouts and need to be replenished.
3. You want to replenish the carbohydrates that you have spent during your workout.
I started drinking Horizon Organic Lowfat Chocolate Milk Plus DHA-Omega 3 this past year. DHA-Omega 3 is a valuable nutrient that helps support the brain, heart and eyes. (Source: Horizon Organic Milk)
I usually purchase the half gallon or the milk boxes. The milk boxes are the perfect size to stick in your kids lunch boxes or in your own and to grab whenever you need a refreshing pick me up.
Horizon’s milk comes in four great flavors as well: chocolate, vanilla, regular milk and strawberry. My personal favorite and what I buy the majority of the time is the chocolate. Another great feature about these small milk boxes is that they can be stored in your pantry until you are ready to use them.
I have also used other products buy Horizon Organic, including their lowfat cottage cheese, string cheese, yogurt and eggs.
I love love love their products! If you have not tried some of them then you need to go quickly to a grocery store and pick up one of their products. Have I mentioned that the chocolate milk is my favorite!!
You can check out more information about their products HERE!
Question: Have you ever tried Horizon Organic Milk or other products? If not, what are you waiting for?

Last week I decided to make a lifestyle change in my eating. I started eating clean. While this is a very hard task for me, surprisingly enough the hardest part was preparing all my meals on Sunday before the week. However, that saved me so much time. You may be wondering what exactly is eating clean? Eating clean is not changing your diet completely right away. Start with 1-2 weeks and you start taking away things such as coke, chocolate, fast foods, etc. You prepare all of your meals ahead of time and you use ingredients such as ground turkey instead of ground meat, more fruits and vegetables. When you go into a grocery store with an eating clean diet you are supposed to stay on the outside circle of the store. This basically means that you do not go into the center isle (except for select things) where all the processed foods are. The fruits, vetables, frozen fruits, milks are all on the outside circle! I also switched from 2% milk to almond milk. This was not an easy task, but one that I am going to try to stick by by putting it in things first, such as smoothies, cereal, food, etc.
You will find out what this picture is from in one of my upcoming post!
My husband is all for me making this change in my life. He has been eating healthy for a while now. When I told him about me starting this and wanting to stick with it, he even said, “Finally you are catching up with me!” Little smarty pants husband I have there! While I am not huge (as you can see above) and I am not looking at being a bikini model (too short for one :0) ), I am looking at toning down on the fat in some areas. I stuck to this last week and I plan to continue sticking to it.
I am currently drinking a smoothie with protein powder, strawberries, bananas, mango flax seed, almond milk and water in it! How much more clean can you get? PLENTY! Stay with me as I travel this journey to see what happens!
I have two reviews/giveaways coming up soon, so watch for those!
Question: How many of you are eating clean? If you are, do you have any good recipes?
